Flamingos |

|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
SpeciesThere are 2 different ways of classifying Flamingos. Under one scheme they belong to Order Ciconiiformes (along with Stork, Heron, and Ibis). Alternatively, they are placed in their own Order Phoenicopteriformes. In both schemes they belong to Family Phoenicopteridae. There are five distinct species and 2 sub-species. Sometimes these are said to be 6 species, hence the duplication of "Greater". They belong to 3 Genera, although sometimes species are wrongly placed in Internet material.
